Resources for Holy Week & Easter

Semana Santa/Holy Week has officially begun!

If your family celebrates Easter, I wanted to just share a few resources for children (and their parents).

First, many countries celebrate Semana Santa with special events or traditions. We were lucky to have Shannon Alvarez who lives in Guatemala with her family, share this post about the incredible alfombras (or "carpets") that are made in the streets prior to Easter. Here's a peek at one of them to entice you over there to read about this beautiful custom.

Amazing, no?

And in Andalucía, Spain, children collect wax balls made from the dripping wax of participants in the nightly parades of the region.

Bilingual Easter Printables & TpT Sale

I'm losing track of the days now that our normal routine has been thrown out the window. Even though we already homeschooled, the days were easy to recognize based on when I was required to go to town to take my son to his taekwondo classes, Civil Air Patrol meetings, and homeschool Co-op classes.

So the point is that Easter has snuck up on me. I can't believe it's less than a week away. And one of my children has a birthday this week. This quarantine, while extremely necessary, is really hard on kids who were hoping to celebrate birthdays with big parties and lots of friends, but now have to spend it like any other day at home. To find ways to celebrate both, I'm looking everywhere online to find ideas for activities we can do here as a family.

And if you find yourself wondering what to do with the kids this coming Easter weekend, don't forget that I do have fun printables for your little ones to color. Or make cascarones!

PLUS EVERYTHING in my TpT store is on sale Monday and Tuesday, April 6th & 7th.

Enjoy!

Bilingual Easter Book of Colors

Bilingual Easter Book of Colors

Five years ago, I created an Easter-themed book of colors in Spanish. It was past time to get an updated look! So I'm happy to share that for this year, this printable booklet has been updated to include three books:
  • one bilingual version with text in both English and Spanish
  • one Spanish version for Spanish learners
  • one English version for ESL learners

The text, font, and design were tweaked too, to make the booklet more visually engaging for young students, who read the text and color in the pages to agree with the words.

It is so adorable that it may be my favorite printable for little hands. :)

You can find the new, updated version available here in my shop, or in my TpT store

Bilingual Easter-Themed Activity Pages for Preschool

I've got several new projects in the works, one of which I can't wait to share with you. But it's not quite done yet. So in the meantime, I'm happy to announce that I have a new more comprehensive Easter-themed activity pack available for your little preschoolers!

I felt like I needed to replace the older Easter worksheets I'd made a few years ago. And since lots of MM readers are always writing me asking about preschool resources, I decided to expand the file with additional activities that help develop those skills your children should be learning in preschool to prepare for Kindergarten.

I really wanted to incorporate Latino culture in the packet, so in addition to the Easter Bunny and Easter chicks, you'll also find activities that feature one of my favorite Hispanic traditions: cascarones!

This packet is heavy on developing number recognition through fun counting activities. You'll also find pages that help your child recognize patterns and shapes.

And I didn't forget those vocabulary and pre-writing skills! Strengthen pencil grip and beginning letter recognition with tracing activities.

There are 10 pages of different activities and they are available in both English and Spanish so you can choose the ones that best suit your needs.

You can find this new packet both in my TpT store .

Enjoy!

Bilingual Easter Activities and Resources

Are you ready for Easter? There are so many things to do before Sunday! The whole week leading to Easter is one of my favorite times of the year. My boys and I do a lot of art, a few crafts, and plenty of reading about this special holiday. It goes without saying that we dip hard boiled eggs into bright dye until our fingers accidentally stain as well!

There are so many Easter activities and resources around the web and by now you might have noticed that I love sharing my favorite finds. Mommy Maestra has created and contributed fantastic Easter bilingual activities throughout the years. I wanted to take a look at all of those resources again and did a little extra research for other ideas to do in Spanish, English or both with my three boys. We hope you find this collection helpful!

Enjoy!

We love this Spanish book!

Super cute bilingual coloring sheet (I printed it again!)
