This blog is written and edited by me, Monica Olivera. I’m a Latina homeschooling mother of two. MommyMaestra started when I decided to homeschool my kids because we weren't happy with the schools in our area. But I wanted to find a site that provided support for homeschooling Latino families and could not find one. So I decided to create my own to help not just my family, but all those others out there who are looking for bicultural and bilingual resources whether or not they homeschool. From that vision I work to provide Latino families with resources, printables, tools, opportunities and more to help them supplement their child's education and help the succeed acadmically.
The response to MommyMaestra was immediate and absolutely positive. Publishing this site quickly became a full-time job to run it well. No one pays me to keep this site going, so I feel it’s more than fair that I’m compensated for the many hours that I put into making MommyMaestra the valuable resource that it has become. There are growing expenses in running a site of this size to the tune of thousands. There is technical help (for when I break things), server space, contributing writers (to help me run this show everyday and still be a real homeschooling mom), site design (and redesign), training, hosting, plus more. Just like it costs money for the library in town to keep its doors open – there are plenty of expenses with a booming site.
How do I make a profit from MommyMaestra? Sometimes when you download a free eBook, sign-up for an online class, download free curriculum, or use my coupon code for a special offer, I may receive a small amount from that company. I also use affiliate links in posts and on the side bar. I do not use a third party ad service for additional ads because everything that goes on this site must be approved by me and must be of benefit to my readers. And I accept paid advertising, and at times sponsored posts, on this site. I only accept paid advertising and sponsored post opportunities from companies who are dedicated to helping (homeschooling) Latino families raise educated children.
I must use wisdom to make sure that the time I put into running MommyMaestra is blessing my family, as well as yours, and not taking away from them.
My Christian moral integrity is so much more important than making a quick buck, and my readers are my first priority. I will never intentionally share any content that would not be of great benefit to your homeschool family. Because of the time sensitive nature of some offers there may be one that slips through once in awhile that I would not have posted having full knowledge. However, if you find any products that are of a concern, please let me know and I’ll removed them immediately if I feel they are not of value to my readers.
Any compensation received will never influence the content, topics or posts made on this blog. I always give my honest opinions, findings, beliefs, or experiences on topics & products. The views and opinions expressed on this blog are purely my own, or are approved by me in the case of my guest contributors. Any product claim, statistic, quote or other representation about a product or service should be verified with the manufacturer, provider or party in question.
