Spanish Literacy Resource: Biblioteca de Medellin

Today's awesome resource comes from MommyMaestra reader, Danielle F. She discovered this last year when she was staying in Colombia. This site - Red de Bibliotecas - is absolutely amazing! If you are raising a biliterate child, you'll love it.

Danielle says that a few highlights are:

-- The Cuidamundos: Each year EPM has a competition for students to make short animated stories about the environment for kids. These are really like e-books. Simple animation, very creative stories.

-- Cuentame Un Cuento: Hosts several minisites with podcasts, classic childrens stories read aloud, and e-books. Some of the links are broken, but those that work are well worth hunting around!

But you don't have to take our word for it. Go and check out the site yourself!

Thank you, Danielle!

  1. Genial! I've been looking for more resources with cuentos in Spanish. So far, I have only found a channel on YouTube called CuentaCuentos that my children have been enjoying. Thanks for this link!

  2. I am not surprised of finding such a great resource in the MedellĂn's library system, every time we travel to this city I use the resources with my son. It is filled with great books and opportunities for your little ones to speak fluently as the stories are really original from our countries and have not been tainted with the American culture. Just another way to enrich their bilingual journey.

  3. Absolutely. So grateful to Danielle for sharing with us!
