Celebrate Today! Read Across America

Today, March 2nd, the National Education Association celebrates Read Across America Day and Dr. Seuss's Birthday. Read Across America is an annual reading event that encourages all children in all communities to celebrate reading.

Schools, libraries, bookstores and many other businesses and organizations host local events in conjunction with the day. Our library, for instance, will be having a Dr. Seuss's birthday party and all the children in the community are invited. (I hope to have pictures up soon!)

Be sure to check in with your local bookstores and libraries to see if they are having any special programs.

And here are some ways to celebrate at home:

• Visit NEA's Read Across America page for a lot of great resources, including Seussville, books, "literacy bags", and more.
